See It All Tours, Food and a Comedy Show, Sunday

We had breakfast in the apartment.  We had fruit, cheese, and nuts.  We left the house at about 9:15 am to walk to the Hilton Doubletree where we met Rick and See it all Tour Van.  He was a great guide.  Humorous and informative.

We saw some of the same things that we have seen on previous tours but from a different perspective.  We pretty much stayed in the downtown area. We made a few stops to take pictures but mostly we drove around while Rick told us stories.
Picasso, untitled.

Calder's Flamingo

Library with owl gargoyles - signifying wisdom.  This is the largest library in the US.
Representing the Indians.  There are 2 sculptures the Bowman and the Spearman.  Neither one actually have any weapons.

I will have to find out the names of some of the artwork I took pictures of.

Buckingham Fountain in Grant Park

Rick called this the Crumpled Piece of Art.

The Soldiers Field football stadium. I guess there was a big game happening here today.

This marks the beginning of Route 66.  I don't know if you can see the sign.

Cloud Gate (The Bean).  This was just a quick drive-by.  We will get up close and personal tomorrow.

Jay Pritzker

Starbuck.  This is the largest Starbucks Roastery in the world.

One stop we made was at a park with a petting zoo, play stuff for kids, and more importantly, a restroom.

A tree full of birdhouses

Fun unplanned part of the tour

We ended the tour down by the riverwalk.

We walked across the Michigan bridge

Great photo op

We walked along the Riverwalk

Jeanne and me.  We were walking under a reflective tunnel

The tour had ended a little early so we meandered slowly to Jaleo.  We had a 1 pm reservation but they did not have any trouble seating us at noon.

Chef Andres brings alive the spirit and flavors of Spain by showcasing the rich regional diversity of Spanish cuisine.  Celebrating the traditional as well as the cutting-edge, Jaleo offers a taste of Spain in a festive, stylish, and casual atmosphere.

Fun place with a lot of art.

Foosball under glass.  Not all of the differently-dressed characters

We ordered 6 different tapas.  They were all very good.
Sauteed spinach, pine nuts, raisins, apricots, and apples

Chicken and cheese croquettes

Seared piquillo peppers filled with goat cheese

Potato, white asparagus salad with bonito tuna, carrots, and mayonnaise.

Shrimp sauteed with garlic

Roasted cauliflower with dates and olives

Since we missed going to the Loaf Lounge yesterday we decided to fit it in today.  Yesterday we were up in the same area but they were closed by the time we were finished with our food tour.

We got a cab.  This was one day we had trouble with the Curb App.  The driver wanted to go a different way than how he was directed to go.  Messed up the cost.  I think he got paid extra.

A very tasty, expensive piece of cake.  We heard about this cake from another TV show, The Bear.

This was in the Logan Park area.  We walked to Palmer Square to see the Illinois Centennial Column.

We arrange for a Lyft ride to get back to the apartment.  We had a chance to relax for a little while.  We took a taxi to Pequod's Pizza.  We heard about this deep-dish pizza from the show Somebody Feed Phil.

Amazing pizza.  We split a small-sized (10-inch) pizza.  They cook it in a skillet.  They layer the skillet with cheese before they put it in the dough.  We asked for sausage, olives, basil, mushroom, and tomato.

After dinner, we got a cab to the Second City Comedy Club for the Best of Chicago show.  We got a drink there but no food.  We were plenty full.

It was a very good show, even if I did not understand all the Chicago references. Loved the improv, especially.

We got a cab to go home.  It was an early night but I was pretty tired.
