We had so little time in the apartment 

our last sunrise in Boston

Jeanne and i went back to the Boston Public Garden to get a few more pictures.  It was such a nice morning.

This is a reflection of a tree (not an upside down tree) and there is a vague reflection of the moon.  See if you can find it?

Once we got back it was time to finish packing and get to the airport.  Our flight was around noon, we flew to Boston and then to Portland.  Jeanne left at the same time and went through Detroit to Chicago.  The flight home was pretty uneventful.  Glenn met us at the airport and got us all home.

All in all we had a fabulous time.

Art, More Art and Lobster

Not much of a sunrise this morning

We walked to the Tube to take a subway to the Museum of Fine Art.  We got on at the Boylston stop

Apparently this is the back entrance of the museum.

  It was huge.  There was no way you could see it all.  Jeanne and I checked out the special exhibit of Rembrandt and Vermeer.  No photography.  Then we went to the contemporary side

They had a lot of interesting chairs around which were intended to be sat on.

This was a huge construction that was hung from the ceiling. Made out of whole Styrofoam cups.

Once we regrouped we walked over to the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum.

First we ate lunch at the Cafe G. We each split an order of steak medallions which was fabulous.  So tender.

There was a small room what was full of all kinds of plants.  Some beautiful flowers.

Isabella was quite a supporter of the arts in her time.  She had the museum built to the style of old Venice.  Filled it with art.  She also had it set up so that they could have concerts and lectures.  She was an impressive woman.  We could not take any pictures after we left the courtyard.

I ended out getting ahead of everyone so I went to sit in the library.  They had a little canary in a cage and they had a mic near it so you could really hear it sing.  

It closed at 5 pm.  After that we walked back over to the Museum of Fine Art to catch a cab.  It was on a main road.  We went to the Taj Boston for a drink.  We had talked about going there for Happy Hour when we were making our plans but we found out that 'happy hours' are illegal in Massachusetts.  Can't have a discount on alcohol.  Anyway you can purchase drinks legally.  So we had different varieties of martinis.  I had the chocolate martini.  It was yummy.  Sharon had a Bombay Sapphire martini, Kris had a pear oui oui, and Jeanne had some fruity one.

We were close enough now to walk home and put our feet up.  Today was a balmy day.  Felt nice after the cold we have had and the rain yesterday.  We could sit out on our deck with a glass of wine and treats.  

Then we headed out for dinner at Legal Seafood Harborside

I had the shrimp cocktail which was very good.  Everyone else had clam chowder.

Everyone had lobstah except for me.  I had a sausage and shrimp pasta dish.

I don't know what the bridge structure is but the moon was nice and still mostly full.

Our last day.  Hard to believe.  Tomorrow we head home.

  

Tapas and a comedy show

After our naps we headed out to Toro.  We took a taxi.  We have figured that the taxi is cheaper than public transportation since we a splitting the bill.  We take turns being up front and paying. It has been raining since the afternoon.  Only rain so far.  We have been very lucky with the weather.

We could not make a reservation so we waited at the bar.  It was very noisy and very crowded.

We caught a cab home and then relaxed a bit. and start a load of laundry.  The show was supposed to be at 9:45 pm but we got called to say that the show would be at 10:45 pm.  We don't know why it was changed.  But it was good that everyone got naps in the afternoon.  

We walked to the Wilbur Theater to see Jim Gaffigan, a comedian

We were up in the nose bleed section.  Very enjoyable show.  But we were all tired by the time we got home.  

Food Tour

We met the group at the Parish Cafe II.  Met our leader.  We had about 16 people on the tour.  Rachel was very good.  She is in grad school majoring in food history.

We had meatloaf sandwiches with mashed potatoes and gravy

We had a bacon wrapped date which I did not get a picture of.  I was at the end of the line and I ate right away

This post has a scarf on it.  Appaarently there are some knitters who make these and maintain them.  Because they are considered graffiti they put them up in the middle of the night. The call it yarn bombing.

We came home and had a little time to relax and recover.  Some people even took naps.  

There is a lot of evidence of Halloween around, pumpkins, spider webs, and a multitude of skeletons.  One in particular which I thought I had taken picutres of but I guess not.
