The Italian Market and More Art!!

We had our morning 1 mile walk to Isgro Pastries for the best cannoli in town.  It sure looked yummy
on our way to Isgro's we explored neighborhood streets. We passed by the Magic Gardens.  We did not have a chance to go in but  we could see a lot from the outside of Isaiah Zagar murals.  After seeing them we found that they were all over.  We heard stories about him.

We met up with our tour guide, Kenny for the tour of the Italian Market.  Very interesting.  We learned about the history, the art and the archetecture.  We made some stops to taste things and we met some local personalities.  We had  Sarcone's bread and de Bruno Bros cheese, We went into Anthony's where we could buy gelato, d'Angelos butcher shop and Gardena's oil and vinager.

After the tour we went to Jim's for cheese steaks.  These were much better than the last ones in the food tour.  Geno's and Pat's may be the best known but we hear that Jim's is the best on taste.

We each had half of a sandwich

This was the line when we came out of Jim's.
Then we hailed a cab to take us to the Barnes Foundation to see the impressionists collection.  We downloaded the app for our phones so that we could listen to commentary about some of the art.  We could not take pictures inside the gallery.

There was an amazing collection of art and it was displayed in an interesting way.  Jeanne and I wore out sooner than Kris and Sharon so we walked home.  We finally got around to the other side of city hall to see the face of William Penn at the top of the tower.  Unfortunately the sun was wrong so we could not see his face.

Now we have seen city hall from all sides.  We came home to put our feet up and to have a glass of wine.  When Kris and Sharon were done they took a taxi to Di Brunos store to buy food for our train ride tomorrow and then they walked home.

notice the reflection even in the stem of the glass.
