Salzburg

We got a map from the  front desk and found out where a few things were which we might try to find.

Line of horse and buggies, just waiting to give tours.

We went into the Salzburg Cathedral.  Wow.  What an amazing place.  Pictures just don't do it justice.

We went down into the crypt.  That was interesting.

A little room set aside for prayer/meditation.

This cathedral has 5 pipe organs.  I wonder if they play them all together or separately.  We missed the noon 1/2 hour organ concert.  We would have found out.  That would have been amazing. Later, we found out that one of our group attended the noon concert and said that it was fabulous.  They did play all 5 organs, but not all at once.

This is where we had our Mozart dinner concert last year.

Then we went to St Peter's church. It was also quite impressive, though not as big as the Salzburg Cathedral, and it was free to go in.

Interesting door

Some "stumbling" stones to remind us of the loss of Jewish lives during the Holocaust.

We decided to have an early dinner.  We wanted a typical traditional Austrian meal that was also vegetarian.  We found the Elephant Restaurant.

I had my Grüner Veltliner wine and spinatknodel (spinach and cheese dumplings), and Nathan had cheese spaetzle. It was delicious.  I might have to research making the spinach dumplings.
The pedestrian bridge of locks.

The fortress up on the hill in back.

Mirabell Gardens.  It was bigger than I remembered.

We saw where the marionette show will be.

We went into a small art gallery of local artists.

At this point, we decided to head back to the hotel.  We are just across the street from the Hotel Sacher.

Nathan headed off to his room to unwind and hopefully go to sleep.  I worked on this blog for a while.  I am tired but it is too light to go to sleep.  I went to the hotel bar to get a glass of wine.  Maybe that will help.
