I have been very impressed with our time in Canada. Everyone has been very helpful and friendly. Montreal and Quebec City were both clean and we felt safe everywhere. All of our tours were top notch. We used the public transportation a lot in Montreal. It was easy to use. Quebec we walked, Jeanne chauffeured, and we used Uber. Lyft has not come to Quebec yet. We did run into construction problems in both cities. But it looks like that is also true in Minneapolis.
QUEBEC CITY;
After breakfast we had to get packed up to leave. We had to put money in the meter for parking after 9 am. Our goal was to leave between 9:30 and 10 am.

We had fun. Note the large square dining room table. It gave us plenty of room to spread out our paper work.
We were on the road by 9:45 am. Not bad. We drove to Montreal on a different route than the drive to Quebec City.
Last view of Chateau Frontenac
The weather was terrible with off and on rain. It made driving a real challenge for Jeanne. We, once again, had troubles with the GPS getting us to the restaurant we had picked as a mid-way point.
The Fromagerie Lemaire is well known for the poutine and cheese curds. The had a big TV screen on, showing the process of making the cheese curds.
I had a mini vegetarian poutine. Kris and Sharon both had the smoked meat version.

MONTREAL
We continued the drive to the airport car rental place. Once we got there everything went very smoothly. After turning in the car, the shuttle was right there to get us to the airport. The line to check in the bags was very short. The line for going through security was very short. We had TSA precheck, but they do not seem to do that in Montreal, but since the line was short it did not matter.
Art work in the Montreal airport.
MINNEAPOLIS
Our flight to Minneapolis was pretty uneventful, 2 1/2 hours. Once we arrived at the airport we had a long walk to baggage claim. Our luggage was already there by the time we got there. We got a Lyft to get to the StayAlfred apartment.
The view from our apartment.
Once we arrived we took a Lyft to the Foshay tower in the W Hotel.
View from our window in the Prohibition bar on the 27th floor. There was some big party going on, it was a happening place.
We had planned to get there by sunset. We sort of did but because it was overcast you could not see the sunset, plus the view from the window was not good.
We had planned to buy dinner on the flight and be there for an after dinner drink. Since we did not get food on the plane we made this a dinner stop. We ordered 3 things and shared them.
Turkey burger, cut into fourths for us.
Chicken and tomato flat bread.
Beef crostini
They were all delicious. We had a nice walk home and enjoyed the city lights.
Cool fountain. It kept changing colors.
Clock tower and the reflection of the clock on another building
Our apartment building. We have a close Starbucks. That may be breakfast tomorrow.

Glad you had a good time in Canada. I gather you got by with English everywhere.
ReplyDeleteSounds like it was a fun trip! Nice that the airport routine went quickly.
ReplyDeleteIt was hard to see the large table from all the wine bottles.
