Kodai Thursday Feb 4

You are right you can never go home again.  But in spite of that we are having a great time.  Thursday we walked over to the school and wandered around.  Some things look the same, some things look the same only they have been renovated so they look better, Some things aren't there and then there is a ton of stuff that is added. It is a much larger school now.  About 90 kids in each class (it was 30 when I went)

Then we met up with our driver and guide.  It is a good thing because I never could have found anything.  We went to Bear Shola Falls.  Once we got to it, It was familiar.  Our guide is a botanist and so he was pointing out all the plants, like citronella .   It is interesting.

there is water - just can't see it

We then went for lunch at Astoria Veg.  Very good meal.  We each had the masala dosai.  Very quick meal.

We then went to Fairy Falls which I would not have recognized at all.  Not much water in the falls.

We drove out to Pillar Rocks and that is stunning still, in spite of all the vendors at the view site.  It wasn't foggy so we got a great pictures.  Wish you could see them.  I have been able to send a few pictures on WhatsApp.  That has gone through.  The internet connection continues to be a frustration.

It was great seeing all the cute monkeys.  Lots of little baby monkeys.  One funny thing happened.  We stopped at one place and had opened the windows in the van to take pictures and then on the other side of the van we saw monkeys so we started taking pictures.  The guide broke off a piece of a roll to feed the head monkey.  While he was out of the van doing that one monkey jumped into the van and grabbed the rest of the roll.  I was in the front of the van and I turned around and saw 2 monkeys inside the van.  They had come in the open windows.  One had just barely gotten in and jumped right our again.  The other was sitting right beside Debbie who was in the back of the van taking pictures outside the van. She did not even notice.  That monkey was raiding our food bag.  I wish I had been quick enough to get a picture of the monkey just sitting there like it thought it belonged.  Luckily it got out the front without a problem.  It was a little disconcerting.  We did get some good pictures.

After our driving tour we did some wandering.  We walked to the Budge (bazaar) and poked into some shops.  Bought a few little things.  Lots of chocolate shops.
We stopped at the golf course.  That was fun.  Apparently they had snow this year!!! Killed a lot of the grass.  I have never heard of snow in Kodai.

Then we walked around Coakers Walk.  Very pretty.  We were very leisurely as we strolled along.  One family wanted to take a family picture with us in the picture.  That always cracks me up.  But we complied.

I was tired after all that walking.  We went back to the hotel to relax. We decided to go with buying a bottle of wine instead of glasses.  It worked out to be minimally cheaper.
