Sunday, Feb 7

Sunday we had to be in the lobby by 8:30 am to get a start on the day.  We started with a city tour.  Our first stop was Victoria Station.  Now called Central Station.  It is huge.  Where we stopped the lighting was wrong for pictures

Marine Drive

We went to Gandhi's house where he lived for 17 years.  It was a nice museum of his life.  I thought that the letters he had written to Roosevelt and Hitler were interesting.

Hanging Gardens were gorgeous with interesting topiaries and flowers.

The top floor with the garden is where the owner/founder of Kingfisher Beer lives

view of the bay of the Arabian Sea
Then we went to a small Dhobi Ghat - this is one of the locations where the laundry of the city is done.
Got to watch the laundry being done.  I don't know how they keep everyone's laundry straight.

Shave and a haircut at the same place

Starbucks!!! yea!! We each ordered something to go (and to use the washroom)

Then we drove to Navi Mumbai to where Rebecca lives.  It was about a 1 hour drive.

more on our visit with Rebecca later.

  1. Interesting photos. I see Starbucks had to pair with an Indian company to get a foothold in India. Glad you got to tour Ghandi's house.

  3. What a contrast between the Dobi Ghat and Starbucks! That must have been something seeing Gandhi's home.
