Our bags, we're ready to go .... well, that is the theory at least. I keep thinking of things I absolutely need, but I have no more space. We are keeping things light with only carry-on bags. There are many things different about this trip than our previous "Art-Walk-Eat" travels.
1. This is our longest trip: we will be gone for 2 weeks, May 14-28.
2. This is our first time doing more than one city: 5 nights in Venice, 3 in Florence and 5 in Rome.
3. This is our first time being a part of a tour group: 10 of the 14 days will be with a Rick Steves tour group. http://www.ricksteves.com.
4. This is our largest group: there are 5 of us traveling together: Joyce, Kris, Sharon and me, from the Portland area and Jeanne, my long time friend from Minnesota, will meet up with us in Amsterdam.
We leave the Portland airport and 1:35 pm Tuesday, May 14th and arrive in Venice at 1:30 pm, Wednesday, May 15th. Italy is 9 hours ahead of Portland.
I am hoping to be able to maintain this blog, but I am not sure what the wifi connection will be like at our first hotel. We are supposed to have free wifi in the rooms in both Florence and Rome. So please have patience.
