After breakfast we met in the lobby with all of our stuff. We walked to where we could meet up with our bus. Monique was our guide as we went on a panoramic city tour. It was nice to see some of the things we had seen before but from a different perspective.
Part of the Olympic City
Monique.
We stopped at the top of Montjuic and went to the Museum of Catalan Art. They have a large collection of Romanesque Art. Monique gave us a very informative tour.
These are originals which were transferred very carefully, pealed off of old walls and stuck on new walls.
She talked about all the symbols in the old paintings. Jesus holding a book titled 'I am the light', In the corners are St Michael (angel), St John (eagle), St Luke (bull) and St Mark (lion) . Since people could not read they would look to the symbols.
After the tour was over we had an hour to check out other parts of the museum. We ended out on the roof top terrace. Great views and champagne!! We were in the shade and there was a nice breeze.
This was the fountain that we missed seeing lit up, the other night
Ah relaxing
Sagrada Familia
The bus took us down the hill to the train station. That was a fun tour.
To review. There are 9 UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) sites in Barcelona, we saw 6 of them Palau de la Musica Catalana, Casa Mila, Palau Guell, Sagrada Familia, Park Guell and Casa Batllo)
Temperatures were getting hotter and hotter.
This was a high speed train. We got up to 302 kilometers/hour. We had lunch on the train. When we got to Madrid we did a bus tour of Madrid. In Madrid, Federico was our local guide as well. It was even hotter each time we stepped out of the bus.

The Egyptian temple of Debod, UNESCO site
Nice view of the city.
Not sure if we can tolerate this heat.
The hotel is nice, but very slow Internet, so I am limiting the pictures for now. We are relaxing a bit before going out for dinner.

No AC on the bus? Nice pictures, especially from up on the roof.
ReplyDeleteI know I would not like being on a bus with no A/C in the heat. I hope your hotel has AC. One nice thing about museums is that they have AC ... at least usually ... to preserve the art work if not the guests :)
ReplyDeleteWe had A/C on the bus- it was just hotter OUTSIDE every time we stepped out of it. (Frederick had us get out a few times while we doing our bus tour. )
ReplyDeleteIs it a dry heat? :) I like the statues. Especially the one with the train station with the luggage. Clever. Great view with the champagne.
