Barri Gotic (Gothic neighborhood) and Picasso

We met Sonya this morning.  She was to be our guide.  We wandered through the old Gothic quarter and saw some of the old Roman ruins.

4 old Roman columns.

Much of the Gothic construction was what she called fake.  I am afraid that I would not be able to recognize the difference.
We went into the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Mar.
It has a lot of interesting things in it.  The stained glass was pretty.

In the back courtyard they have geese to help with protection.  Always have 13 geese.

Then we went to the Picasso Museum.  Sonya was a fabulous guide there.  She was informative about Picasso and how his styles changed.  We were not allowed to take any pictures.  The outside of the building was not particularly impressive.
resting afterwords.  Waiting for everyone to gather.

Afterwords we walked to the Santa Caterina Market.

27 different varieties of tomatoes.

after our tour we spit off from the group to go to lunch.  Since it was Kris's birthday we wanted to do something special.  So we went to the 4 Cats.  Wow.  Was that delicious.  Nice relaxing meal.

Caprese salad

We ordered from the Fixed Price menu.  Kris and Sharon had the salmon and Jeanne and I had the chicken stroganoff (not sure that is Spanish, but it was good).  We shared a bottle of wine and then for some strange reason they treated us to a glass of champagne.

We met the owner of the restaurant, Yvan.  What a nice birthday celebration.
After lunch we went back to the hotel until time for our tour of the Palau de las Musical Catalana.

  1. The geese are offering protection from what?

  2. Nice photo of the goose in front of the waterfall with the koi underneath. Glad the geese didn't attack you.

  3. Can't wait for the story about the "attack" geese. Probably not. They probably just make a ton of noise. Make up a good story.
