Our Apartment

We are standing at the corner of our street.  The taxi could not make it down the street.

Our front door.  We have a code that lets us into this door.  It opens into a courtyard. I do not know how many apartments are in the building.  We go up a flight and a half of stairs, so the windows above the front door are our apartment.  The stairs are wooden, old and well worn. Not surprising since the building is over 200 years old.  Lia was outside the front door waiting for us.  She gave us step by step instructions on getting into the apartment, taking care of trash, and using all the various devices.  She left us a booklet with instructions as well.  I do not think that we will be doing much baking, but we have already run 2 loads of laundry.  There is no dryer so we have wet clothes hanging up every where.
A nice gift box was waiting for us with wine, coffee, jam, milk, OJ and cookies.
It is a two bedroom, two bathroom apartment.
The lived in look now

we have a very skinny bathroom.  Two people can not fit in it at the same time.

note drying clothes on hangers everywhere

skinny bathroom sink.  Joyce, it is like your downstairs sink.

Sharon & Kris's room.  Their bathroom is positively spacious, compared to ours.
The showers are very interesting.  Left dial controls volume and which shower head (there were 2) was used, the right dial controls temperature.  There is a button on each to make it possible to turn.

old stairs

This is our close metro stop, Mabilion.  We each purchased a "starter pack" which includes a 4 day museum pass, 10 metro tickets and a boat ride on the Seine.

In the morning I used the Nespresso machine for my coffee.  I did not realize how noisy it was.  I may have to wait for my first cup in the future.

  1. The interior decor is quite a contrast to the old door and stairway. No antiques at all.
